The series Memento Mori reflects the challenge of creating a beautiful and deeply spiritual still life. Confronted by artists through the centuries, the compelling and thoughtful arrangement of disparate objects is an exercise in composition and harmony. An avid collector I used objects from my studio and my gardens surrounding it to create images that would stand the passing of time. I chose to use my antique 8×10 Century camera with a brass petzval lens. I used the wet-plate collodion process and produced 8×10 ambrotypes.
